Example:
Passages from the work of another author are used within a research work without reference to and/or correct citation of the original author

Invention of research results (measured values, observational data, statistics, etc.); improper manipulation of the research process; alteration or selective omission of data that conflicts with the research hypothesis; intentionally misleading interpretation of data.

Example:
Data conflicting with the research hypothesis are left out or altered to achieve a desired result.

Violations against good scientific practice include the listing of persons as authors who have not made appropriate contributions, as well as the exclusion of persons who have made such contributions.

Example:
A co-author is not named in a scientific publication despite having made an important contribution to the work.

Obstruction of the research activities of other researchers; dishonest attempts to lower the scientific standing of another researcher; in particular anonymously expressed unspecific or unjustified accusations of violations of the standards of good scientific practice.

Example:
A person attempts anonymously and without tenable evidence to lodge complaints with an institution in order to discredit a researcher working there.

Violations against good scientific practice in the handling of research data can mean inadequate logging and documentation of scientific procedures and their results, or the unwarranted denial of access to primary and original data, including information about their origin, or the disposal of said data prior to the expiry of relevant deadlines.

Example:
A researcher fails to show how the data were collected or processed in a research project.

Discrimination in career progression, especially for junior researches who have provided information on possible scientific misconduct (whistleblowers).

Violations against good scientific practice in the area of research funding and financing can for example include: The inclusion of false details in a grant application that can put competing researchers at a disadvantage, as well as non-transparent handling of conflicts of interest.

Example:
A group of researchers does not indicate on a grant request for a joint research project that it is being co-financed by a private company for economic reasons.
